My husband is fond of telling me that coupons don't work, that everything I buy with coupons is "junk food" and that after "saving" so much money, I still don't have anything useful in the house. I will admit to buying large quantities of candybars, cookies, and chips, but I only bought them when they were free or when I made money of of them via a rebate!
Today I went to two different stores: Walgreens and Albertsons. I spent a total of $49.31 and let's see what I got...
At Albertsons:
10 Newspapers (Oregonian) = $20.00
7 jars of Bertolli Pasta sauce = $2.99 each or 20.93
1 jar of Del Monte Sun Fresh Red Grapefruit = $4.99
At Walgreens:
8 Bottles of Purex 2X (32 load size) laudry Detergent = $2.99 each (I had a rain check from last week) 23.92
1 Dentek floss picks = 2.79
1 Colgate toothpaste = 2.99
1 bottle Mazola Extra Virgin Olive Oil = 5.99
So, my total value was 81.61
That means I saved 32.30. And hubby thinks this isn't much of a savings by the way, because I "only saved about 40%". Well, in my book, $32 in my pocket is better than not. After all, today I saved my Garbage Bill. And I only got those items that we need.
